Karwa Chauth is being celebrated with great fervour all over India. It is a very special day for married women. The same goes for the leading ladies of Bollywood. Some of our favourite actresses have tied the knot recently. They are going to celebrate their very first Karwa Chauth this year with their husbands.
As part of Karwa Chauth rituals, women observe a fast. After looking at the moon through a sieve, married women break their fast by eating a small bite of food and a sip of water from their husbands’ hands. This ritual, known as Karwa Chauth vrat, holds great importance in the festival. While it is traditionally observed by married women, however, both married men and unmarried couples also participate in the fast.
Putting a fun twist to it, Varun Dhawan dropped a video on his Instagram Stories today. In the video he can be seen doing hanging leg lifts. He goes on to say, “Happy Karwa Chauth to all – jo aj fast kar rahe hain – all the pretty ladies. Par yeh sab husbands ke liye hai jo subah se khaa rahe hain. Aap bhi kuch tyaag kijiye. Mere saath yeh 100 rep ka challenge karein aj. (Happy Karwa Chauth to all – to those fasting today – all the lovely ladies. But all this is for the husbands who have been eating since morning. You too should sacrifice something. Join me in this 100-rep challenge today). Let’s do it for our wives today. We can also sacrifice something for them.”
On the work front, Varun Dhawan is now filming VD18, which is being directed by Jawan director Atlee Kumar. He will also be entering the OTT arena with Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Citadel, an Indian spin-off of the American TV programme of the same name. Raj and DK, the directors of The Family Man, will direct the Indian adaptation of Citadel.
