Mahesh Babu, known for delivering multiple blockbuster films such as Pokiri, Businessman, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Bharat Ane Nenu and Maharshi, has had his share of challenges in the film industry. Despite his massive successes, he has encountered tough times when some of his films failed to resonate with the audience. His most recent film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, released in 2022, fell short of expectations and underperformed at the box office.
In a recent interview with Hello Magazine, Mahesh candidly discussed his experiences with box office failures and shared valuable advice from his father, Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, who provided insights into the challenges faced by prominent actors when dealing with disappointments.
Reflecting on his past failures, the actor explained, “When a film doesn’t do well, you’re left with a sinking feeling. There are a lot of expectations and many people put in a great deal of effort into making a movie. However, I take full responsibility because I’m the face of it all. I believe that if I hadn’t green-lighted the project, it wouldn’t have happened. It’s better that way and it allows me to focus on my next film.”
Mahesh Babu further acknowledges that success has increased his responsibility and has made him even more careful with his work. Although he doesn’t mention feeling pressured, he highlighted that he has become more cautious when selecting film projects.
Mahesh Babu credits his father, Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, a celebrated star for giving him valuable lessons. He acknowledges that being a prominent actor comes with a certain amount of pressure and he has learned to accept this reality. “He taught me the importance of discipline and humility. He instilled in us a strong value system, teaching us that success comes with its ups and downs. When you rise, there will inevitably come a moment when you fall, and you will have to carry that burden and ride the waves. It all comes down to how you handle the challenge,” he recalled.
Mahesh Babu is currently working on Guntur Kaaram, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film also features an ensemble cast including Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sreeleela, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Sunil and Mahesh. This movie is set to hit the screens on January 12, 2024. The superstar is also preparing for another exciting project with director SS Rajamouli, which is expected to go on floors in 2024.
