India and England will be facing each other in a women’s bilateral tour starting this Wednesday. This will be the first time that India will be competing in a T20I game since their historic campaign in the Asian Games. Harmanpreet Kaur led a dominant side to an Asian Games Gold Medal after they took down Sri Lanka in the final. Having won the toss India chose to bat first in the final. Smriti Mandhana’s 46-run knock helped India reach a total of 116 runs. In the second innings, Titas Sadhu produced a phenomenal bowling performance as she scalped three wickets in four overs while giving away just six runs in that spell. This curbed Sri Lanka to 97/8 as India went on to win the game by 19 runs. They will be looking to continue their stellar form against England next.
The two nations will face each other at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 6. England last played a T20I series also against Sri Lanka. They ended up losing that series 2-1 to the Lankans. After a 1-1 draw in the first two games, Sri Lanka clinched the series by picking up a seven-wicket victory in their final game. It will be interesting to see if they can get back to form against one of the best women’s cricket sides in the world.
