Iman Vellani, the star of the Ms. Marvel series and of course, The Marvels is all set to feature in the third quadrant of her MCU content list as she confirms her role in the upcoming spin-off animated series Marvel Zombies. Giving an expansion to the ‘What If’ series where all the heroes will turn into zombies, the upcoming series will continue that storyline introducing some new heroes who also struggle to survive in the apocalypse. In a recent conversation with The Direct, Iman Vellani while confirming her role revealed that Ms. Marvel will be the very central figure of the series.
Iman Vellani confirms her role in Marvel Zombies
The actress in her conversation with the publication said, “We’ve done the whole thing. It was amazing. It was so much fun. And I love that there are a lot of cool characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show,” she said, further adding that Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan is basically the “Frodo of the story.”
Shedding light on her experience, the actress also added that she interacted with and met a lot of people throughout the journey.
Notably, the update comes at a time when fans are already excited about the potential appearance of Captain America and Captain Marvel in the upcoming show since they were also part of the heroes who fell victim to the zombie apocalypse. This further also hints that Ms. Marvel could be facing them as well in the miniseries.
It is pertinent to note that Iman Vellani’s return as Kamala Khan will receive a warm welcome as her captivating performance in the last show Ms. Marvel was praised by fans, proving that she was made for bigger things.
About Marvel Zombies
While fans may clearly remember the first season of Marvel’s ‘What If’, a TV series that was released two years back, the fifth episode gave a glimpse into the alternative universe where the Earth’s mightiest heroes were turned into zombies.
Following the same, Marvel Studios have decided to expand the series with a similar horror flavour of brooding zombies.
While fans can expect the older characters to mark a return in the upcoming show, Marvel is also expected to bring some new and upcoming characters including Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, and Kamala Khan among others, all fighting against the zombie plague.
Directed by Bryan Andrews, the Marvel Zombies is set for release in 2024 on Disney+Hotstar.
