Actor Aditya Roy Kapur admits he became accustomed to body objectification quite early in his career. Before the Aashiqui 2 fame began signing films, he worked as a VJ on Channel V. Traveling down memory lanes, Aditya Roy Kapur recalled being objectified since the beginning of his career in the showbiz world. The revelation came during his recent interaction with Film Companion, wherein the actor opined body objectification is a part of working in a visual medium. While sharing his personal experience, Aditya remembered shooting a shirtless promo as a part of his introduction to his first job.
“I started off as a VJ with Channel V and I was well into being objectified. My first promo introducing VJ Aditya was me taking my shirt off at Agonda Beach in Goa. So that has been happening since the start of my career,” he said. Aditya Roy Kapur believes, “It’s a part of it. It’s a visual medium and if one can tick that box then it’s a good thing.”
During the same interaction, the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani star also confessed maintaining a chiselled physique hasn’t taken a toll on him so far. Notably, he refrains from putting himself on a strict diet and tries to eat everything he desires. However, when it comes to getting into the skin of his character, Aditya Roy Kapur does all that he can to acquire the right physique.
The career graph of the star is quite tumultuous which included him having to face multiple commercial failures early on in his professional journey. But Aditya believes it is those years of struggle that keep him focused to push through. While opening up about how he dealt with his career downturn, the actor emphasized he kept negative thoughts at bay to feel less impacted by the outcome. Although there were moments that he doubted himself, he explained being focused on moving forward. And because he has faced failure in the beginning, Aditya has now found a way to develop a familiarity with the emotion.
The actor last shared the screen space with Sobhita Dhulipala and Anil Kapoor in Disney+ Hotstar’s show The Night Manager. He has now teamed up with Sara Ali Khan and director Anurag Basu for Metro In Dino.
