While Nagarjuna is exceptionally charming, Jr NTR offers everything a moviegoer wants: Harshvardhan Rane
The elation of turning his dream into reality becomes evident as he talks about his experience as a Southern star even as he gears up for his Bollywood debut ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’.

While entering the showbiz industry when most of the beginners are wary of taking risks, Telugu actor Harshvardhan Rane knew that life is a series of calculated risks and that with every risk comes great rewards. It was solely his decision to do films down South that he could realise his dreams of seeing himself on the 70 mm. The elation of turning his dream into reality becomes evident as he talks about his experience as a Southern star before the release of his Bollywood debut ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’.

Excerpts from an interview...

Talent doesn’t belong to any region: Since my parents parted ways, I didn’t get to meet my mother (Telugu by origin) much. As far as the question of Southern cinema as the best launch pad goes, I think there are just a few examples to explain it. For me, talent doesn’t belong to any region. People from Africa and Antatrica are as capable as any one of us. They all are talented, but they might not get as much exposure as actors here would. It is all about knowing the right people and being in the region where the films are made.

I was advised not to join South cinema: When I started working in Southern films, many people told me that I should re-think as Southern film industry welcomes only villains. I was told that Southern filmmakers would offer me the roles of a villain. But I was keen on playing the hero and I could achieve it. Honestly speaking, there are no strict rules and formulaes. It is all about being convinced about what you want to do in life and achieving it. I was completely aware of the fact that I had to stay grounded and not give in to any kind of pressure.

Wrong turn took me to the right direction: I took up 'Thakita Thakita' only because I had a deep craving to see myself on the big screen. This was the reason why I started meeting people. During my first meeting itself, I took the wrong turn. I had to go to Abbas Tyrewala’s room, but took the wrong turn and reached the room where a team was auditioning actors for a Southern film. As soon as I realized that I had entered the wrong room, I said ‘Sorry’ and started moving out. But the team asked me to audition and didn’t mind even though I said in Hindi. Maine audition Hindi mei causally de diya aur select ho gaya. ‘Thakita Thakita’ had 4 heroes, but I was extremely excited to see myself on the screen.

Like Nagarjuna’s charm, Jr NTR’s energy: I like Nagarjuna because of his charm. I feel he is way too charming without making any extra efforts. And for me that’s amazing because that really makes a huge difference. And Jr NTR is very filmy. He has everything that a moviegoer wants to watch. He is a ball of energy and that can be seen in every scene he does. This is also true for 'Temper'.
