Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have welcomed their second child, a baby boy. The couple made the special announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, taking everyone by surprise. Announcing the birth of their son via a joint statement, Anushka revealed that their son was born on February 15 and they named him Akaay (अकाय). Much like their daughter’s name (Vamika), Anushka and Virat chose to look for a unique name for their son. But what does Akaay (अकाय) mean?
Akaay loosely means someone who is free from molds, boxes and limitations. While it is unclear what inspired Anushka and Virat to pick this name, it is rather an interesting pick for their son. Akaay also reportedly means shining moon in the Turkish language.

Anushka chose to keep her second pregnancy away from the spotlight. Although it was reported in October last year that Anushka was expecting her second baby, she refrained from commenting on the same.
The news of her pregnancy was reported by Hindustan Times last year. “Anushka is expecting her second baby. Like the last time, they will formally share the news with the world at a later stage,” a source cited by the publication said.
The news was yet again confirmed by AB De Villiers last month. He said on his YouTube channel, “Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him, but he has made the right decision.” However, he soon took a U-turn on his comments.
Anushka Sharma tied the knot with Virat Kohli in December 2017. The couple welcomed their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021.
