According to a recent report, producer Vashu Bhagnani sold the seven-story office of Pooja Entertainment to settle a debt of Rs 250 crore. Earlier reports had stated that Pooja Entertainment faced big losses due to a series of flops. Bollywood Hungama had revealed that Vashu is using the proceeds from the sale to pay off debts and also reported that the production house has laid off 80 percent of its staff.
And now, speaking to The Times of India, Vashu has denied the reports and said that the building is being redeveloped, and that they are working with the same team for many years, and there have been no official complaints.
Many of the crew members had earlier taken to social media to complain about nonpayment of dues. Reacting to this, Vashu said that they shouldn’t have ranted on social media. He said, “I have been in the business for the past 30 years. If there are are people who claim that we owe them money, they should come forward and talk to us. Do they have proper contracts with Pooja Entertainment? Have they filed a case regarding this? There are so many ways to sort this rather than ranting on social media. If there is an issue, we will resolve it. Nobody is running away. Please come to my office, talk to us, give us your documents and give us 60 days to figure things out. I am not going to buckle under any pressure or blackmail. We also work with production companies in the UK. If they owe someone money, then people must reach out to them directly.”
Vashu Bhagnani denied all rumours about selling the office space, saying it is being redeveloped as planned over a year ago. With Bade Miyan Chote Miyan now released, the work has started. He also said that hits and flops are normal in the business and he’s working on his next big project, an animation series.
Expressing frustration over the delay in getting their hard-earned money, which was promised within 45-60 working days after completing their work, crew members who worked on Pooja Entertainment projects recently criticised the company’s behaviour, calling attention to what they see as exploitation of their passion for filmmaking. One crew member urged others not to work with the production house owned by Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani, and asked for support in sharing the post to raise awareness.
