The makers of the Anandhi starrer Mangai unveiled the trailer of the film on Wednesday. The movie is written and directed by the debutant director Gubenthiran Kamatchi. Mangai, which revolves around the disparities between men and women in society, is slated to release in theatres worldwide in March.
Apart from Anandhi, actors Adhitya Kathir, Bigg Boss Tamil fame Shivin, Rams and Kavitha Bharathi will also play prominent roles in the film. The movie is produced by AR Jaffer Sadiq under the banner of JSM Pictures. Theeson has composed the music for Mangai. The trailer of the movie has now gone viral.
The film revolves around the actress Anandhi who is playing the role of Mangai in the movie. The trailer shows an innocent Mangai being framed for immoral behaviour. The clip narrates the experience of Anandhi while she travels from Munnar to Chennai. In one of the scenes, the actress was seen marching towards the busy road while wearing a blouse. In an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, Gubenthiran shared that the movie focuses on those men who objectify women who are not a part of their family. “This film tries to explore differences other than biological factors between men and women, and why the latter are denied opportunities that the former easily get." added director Gubenthiran.
Mangai has been extensively shot in locations including Munnar, and Pooparai in Kerala, Theni, Cumbum, Kudalur, Lower Camp, and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
Anandhi debuted in the Telugu film industry with the movie Bus Stop in 2012. It was directed by Maruthi and starred Prince Cecil and Sri Divya in the lead roles. However, Prabhu Solomon’s directorial venture Kayal made Anandhi a promising lead actress in the Tamil film industry. It starred Chadran, Anandhi and Vincent in the lead roles. She also won awards for her performance in the movie at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
