Actor couple Suriya and Jyothika are currently basking in the glory of their daughter Diya Suriya successfully following in their footsteps in cinema. Diya has directed a documentary titled- Leading Light – The Untold Stories of Women Behind the Scenes. Suriya and Jyothika have penned adorable notes on Instagram, appreciating their daughter’s first step in filmmaking. The Rakhta Charitra 2 actor shared a photograph of her daughter with lighting equipment. He wrote in the caption, “Dear Diya, I am incredibly proud of you for making this documentary! It’s inspiring to see how you’ve given a voice to the amazing women behind the scenes and I know this is just the beginning of your wonderful journey.” He advised his daughter to keep following her passion and he is proud to be her Appa (father). Suriya wrote that he can’t wait to see where this path takes her next. Extending Diya all the love and admiration, Suriya added her documentary’s link in his bio.
Social media users also congratulated Diya on her debut project.
Meanwhile, Jyothika wrote that she is proud of her daughter for making such a meaningful student documentary. The Chandramukhi actress wrote that this film explores the discrimination faced by female gaffers in the entertainment industry. Jyothika advised her daughter to keep moving forward and thanked her for throwing light on this underlying issue.
Gaffers are the chief electrician in a film or television production unit.
Suriya and Jyothika’s daughter Diya was in the headlines in 2022 as well. She had performed brilliantly in class 10. As per the reports, she has scored 95 marks in Tamil, 99 in English, 100 in Mathematics, 98 in Science and 95 in Social Science. Suriya and his family were immensely happy to see Diya passing examinations with such good marks. Despite being occupied with films, the Rakhta Charitra 2 actor ensures that his children concentrate on their academics. As per the Jai Bhim actor, education is the top priority for children.
On the work front, Jyothika was last seen in the role of Devika in the Bollywood release, Srikanth. Meanwhile, Suriya will be next seen as lead in Kanguva which will release on November 14.
