The Indian film industry is experiencing a throng of re-releases, of which, many are regarded as Indian cinema classics. Adding a new as well as influential name to the list, the latest re-release is Manmadhan, a Tamil language classic, starring Silambarasan and Jyothika as the leads.
Manmadhan had its global re-release on October 5, after 20 years from its original release date. If the reports are to be believed, the film received an incredible response from the audience and the fans, something which does not come as a surprise. The reports add that the audience, now different from the generation of the original release, is giving the film a lot of love.
Manmadhan is a romantic thriller directed by A J Murugan. The cast includes Silambarasan and Jyothika as the leads. The cast also includes Goundamani, Sindhu Tolani, Atul Kulkarni, Mandira Bedi and others. The film is produced by S K Krishnakanth under the banner of Indian Theatre Production. Yuvan Shankar Raja did the music in the film, while the cinematography was done by R D Rajasekhar and S Moorthy and the editor is Anthony. The film was originally released on the date, November 12, 2004. After its release, Manmadhan became a blockbuster hit and ran for over 150 days in theatres, as per the reports. In 2006, the film had its Kannada remake, Madana. It was the debut directorial of Jai Jagadish and starred Aditya as the lead.
The film proved to be a breakthrough project for Silambarasan, who is now one of the most popular names in South Indian cinema. The actor is set to make a comeback to the silver screen with Thug Life, a Mani Ratnam directorial.
The cast includes Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and many others. It is being produced under the banners of Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies while A R Rahman is doing the music.
