Sherlock Actor Andrew Scott Joins The Cast Of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
Andrew Scott joined the previously announced cast members, including Josh O'Connor and Cailee Spaeny in Knives Out 3.

Daniel Craig returns as Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s upcoming Knives Out sequel titled, Wake Up Dead Man. The news of the third instalment has sparked excitement among fans, and now, Fleabag and Sherlock star Andrew Scott has also joined the cast list, as per Variety. Netflix revealed that the new movie will feature a fresh murder mystery set in an undisclosed location, with a unique bunch of suspects that will catch the attention of Detective Blanc. Scott joins previously announced cast members, including Challengers actor Josh O’Connor and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny. While plot details remain under wraps, production is set to begin next month and release is scheduled for 2025.

Interestingly, Wake Up Dead Man reunites Scott and Craig, who previously shared the screen in the 2015 James Bond sequel Spectre. In the film, Scott played Max Denbigh, also known as Agent C, the Director General of the Joint Intelligence Service formed by MI5 and MI6. In recent years, the actor rose to fame after he appeared as Hot Priest on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s series Fleabag. Scott has also appeared in All of Us Strangers and Netflix’s series Ripley. However, his standout role as Jim Moriarty opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Sherlock remains most loved.

Reportedly, Lionsgate released the original Knives Out movie in 2019, which grossed $312 million worldwide, despite being made on a budget of just $40 million. Later, Netflix acquired the rights for the sequel, Glass Onion for $450 million and released the 2022 movie on the platform, which earned approximately $15 million at the box office due to its limited theatrical release.

The first Knives Out movie featured Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Katherine Langford and Jamie Lee Curtis, among others. The sequel, Glass Onion, introduced Daniel Craig’s character Benoit Blanc to a new group of suspects, including Madelyn Cline, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson and Janelle Monae, as old friends reuniting on a Greek island, where one of them ends up dead. Following this trend, Wake Up Dead Man is expected to take Blanc to a fresh location and a brand new mystery to solve.

While plot details of part three are still a mystery, some fans are speculating that the movie might have some connection with the U2 song, Wake Up Dead Man, as the two share the same title. This has sparked curiosity and theories about the possible story of the upcoming film.
