Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to make her Malayalam debut. If a recent report by Movie Tamil is to be believed, the actress is all set to step into the Malayalam film industry. Reportedly, she will be the female lead in a film which will also star Mammootty in a key role. The film is touted to be an action thriller and its title has not been finalised as of now.
It has also been reported that this yet-to-be-titled movie will be directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Reportedly, Samantha will begin shooting for the film on June 15th whereas Mammootty will be joining her five days later i.e. on June 20.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a popular actress who is widely loved in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. The actress is known for movies like Yashoda, Theri, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Majili and Ye Maaya Chesave among others.
Samantha was last seen in Kushi. The romantic drama also starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. The film gained mixed reviews from all and earned over Rs 70 crore at the box office. After Kushi, Samantha took a break from acting to focus on her health. She was diagnosed with Myositis. The actress resumed work earlier this year when she said, “Yes, I am going back to work, finally. But apart from that, in the meantime, I was so completely jobless. But, I am doing something fun with a friend. It’s a health podcast. It is quite unexpected, but it is something that I really, really love. I am extremely passionate about and I am very excited.”
Meanwhile, Samantha will be seen in the Indian version of Citadel which also stars Varun Dhawan. It is helmed by Raj and DK and the team is staying tight-lipped about its plot. However, earlier this year, Priyanka Chopra opened up about the Indian remake of her show and revealed that the storylines are connected.
Besides this, Samantha also has Bangaram in her pipeline. Earlier this year, Samantha gave a surprise to her fans on her birthday when she shared the poster of her film. The initial glimpse of the film depicted Samantha in a fierce stance, clutching a double-barrel gun and showcasing a bloody visage.
