Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat released on January 25 amid huge uproar and protests by the Rajput fringe outfits. And despite threats, the viewers made their way to the theatres to watch Bhansali's magnum opus. The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, opened to a bag of mixed reviews but managed to impress viewers with its grandeur and large scale.
After minting over 83 crores till Saturday, the film marched past the 100 crore mark on Sunday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film's earnings and wrote, "Looking at the overall scenario, #Padmaavat has put up FANTASTIC numbers in its extended weekend... Crosses ₹ 100 cr mark... Wed [limited previews] 5 cr, Thu 19 cr, Fri 32 cr, Sat 27 cr, Sun 31 cr. Total: ₹ 114 cr. India biz."

Despite a substantial loss of business, given that the film didn't release in 4 states, the film managed to rake in 31 crores on Sunday amounting the total collection to Rs 114 crore. "Protests... Disturbances... No screening in few states... Yet, #Padmaavat does EXCELLENT biz in its extended weekend... The film lost out on substantial biz [approx ₹ 35 cr / ₹ 37 cr], but the SUPERB trending in other circuits helped put up a MAJESTIC total...," wrote Adarsh.

Interestingly, the film has also crossed the lifetime businesses of Bollywood big-budget films including Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Shah Rukh Khan's Dilawal. "This may sound UNBELIEVABLE, but #Padmaavat has crossed *lifetime biz* of #Dilwale, #BajiraoMastani, #Sultan, #TigerZindaHai [still running] and #BajrangiBhaijaan in its *opening weekend* itself in Australia... Will cross #Dhoom3 today [Mon]… INCREDIBLE indeed!... @Rentrak," wrote Adarsh.
