In the latest update for Jurassic franchise fans, another Hollywood biggie is set to join the upcoming Jurassic World film. Two-time Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali is reportedly in talks to visit Isla Nublar. If confirmed, Ali will join Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s new dinosaur film. The update came days after the Black Widow star’s name popped up in connection to Jurassic World 4. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson will take on the lead role, marking her return to the franchise after her exit from the MCU.
Oscar-Winning Actor In Jurassic World 4
Last seen in Netflix’s Leave the World Behind, Mahershala Ali will portray a significant role in the film alongside almost finalised stars like Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
The film will go into production in mid-June, beginning the first leg in London after the primary cast is confirmed.
Bringing in Mahershala Ali can prove to be a big asset for the film, considering the actor’s reputation for avoiding Hollywood blockbusters and being selective about his roles. Also, it will be interesting to see the kind of character he plays in the new Jurassic World. Earlier, the actor won Oscars for Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight and Peter Farrelly’s Green Book.
Gareth Edwards will direct Jurassic World 4, while David Koepp will return to pen down its script like he did with Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World (1997). Universal is looking forward to releasing the fantasy action adventure on July 2, 2025, suggesting that makers will need to go “velociraptor mode” to wrap things up within schedule.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce the film, while Steven Spielberg is the executive producer through Amblin Entertainment.
However, plot details or the confirmed title of the film are yet to be revealed. After the last three Jurassic World movies concluded with Dominion, the new film is expected to ignite a new trilogy. The first film came out in 2015, followed by the sequel in 2018. Finally, in 2022, the final Jurassic World was released, bringing back the OG actors Laura Dern, Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum after many years.
