Not every star kid achieves success in their film career. Many star kids could not gain that much stardom like their parents. There is one such actor who is the son of a superstar father and has been unable to make a mark in the industry on his own. His father has acted predominantly in Telugu cinema, along with a few Hindi and Tamil films. Along with this, he also received two National Film Awards. On the other hand, his mother is a Bharatanatyam dancer and activist. She has predominantly worked in Tamil films from 1986 to 1992 and has appeared in many blockbuster films. His brother has impressed the audience with his films; however, he has only 1 hit in his entire career. Can you guess the actor?
The actor is none other than Akhil Akkineni. He is the son of superstar Nagarjuna and Amala Paul. He is of Telugu descent from his father’s side and has Bengali and Irish ancestry from his mother’s side. He is the grandson of actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and half-brother of Naga Chaitanya. Today let’s take a look at the actor’s career journey.
Akhil Akkineni pursued acting as a career at age 16 and enrolled in an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Before making his debut as a lead actor, Akhil Akkineni made a special appearance in the movie, Manam.
Later, he debuted as a lead actor with the 2015 film Akhil, which won him the Filmfare Best Male Debut. Though his performance was appreciated by the audience, the film failed to impress the audience and emerged to be a box office disaster.
He later went on to star in Hello (2017) and Mr. Majnu (2019), which also flopped at the box office. But he achieved his commercial breakthrough with the romantic comedy Most Eligible Bachelor (2021). The romantic comedy film was written and directed by Bhaskar and produced by Bunny Vas and Vasu Varma on GA2 Pictures. It stars Akhil Akkineni and Pooja Hegde as the main leads, with music composed by Gopi Sundar, cinematography by Pradeesh Varma, and editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh.
His last release, Agent, made on a budget of Rs 65 crore, earned only Rs 6.5 crore worldwide and emerged to be a disaster. The film also starred Urvashi Rautela in a key role.
Despite having a series of flops, Akhil Akkineni is now gearing up for his next release, Hastaara Vedavidhyam.
