Naga Chaitanya caused quite a stir on social media on Tuesday when a video of him dressed as a groom began circulating online. Fans of the actor, who recently got engaged to Sobhita Dhulipala, were momentarily confused, thinking he was already tying the knot. However, the buzz was all about the actor launching a wedding collection for a clothing brand. Speaking to the media at the event, Chaitanya admitted, “Perhaps you could think so, that it’s a countdown kinda for my marriage,” but he remained tight-lipped about the actual wedding date and venue.
When asked if this appearance in a groom’s outfit was a sort of rehearsal for his upcoming nuptials, Naga Chaitanya playfully hinted that it might be. He was also questioned about his preferences for the wedding size. Addressing this, he said, “Marriage is about the people who mean a lot to me. It doesn’t have to be a big fat wedding but people keeping up with the cultures and traditions in mind, so that’s how I want it (marriage) to be.”

As for the specifics of the wedding date and location, Chaitanya shared that nothing has been finalised yet. The actor and Sobhita Dhulipala got engaged on August 8 in a private ceremony at Chaitanya’s home. Making their relationship public, the couple shared a poetic message, quoting, “What could my mother be to yours? What kin is my father to yours anyway? And how did you and I meet ever? But in love our hearts are as red earth and pouring rain: mingled beyond parting.” This verse from Kurunthogai, translated by A.K. Ramanujan, beautifully encapsulates their love.
Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, also took to social media to officially welcome Sobhita into the family. In an earlier interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna revealed that the couple chose the engagement date based on its auspiciousness. “Both families consulted the Nakshatras, and when we were told August 8 was a very auspicious day, we decided to go ahead with it,” he said.
Naga Chaitanya was previously married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The two married in 2017 and amicably parted ways in 2021.
