Millie Bobby Brown, renowned for her breakthrough role in Stranger Things, is all set to entertain audiences once again in the upcoming Netflix film, Damsel. The movie, set to premiere on March 8, promises a fresh and raw portrayal of Brown’s character, Princess Elodie. Directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the recently shared poster provides a glimpse into the determination, rage and fearlessness that define Elodie, breaking away from traditional damsel in distress stereotypes. The upcoming fantasy movie marks Brown’s latest collaboration with the streaming giant, following her success in the Enola Holmes franchise. As fans eagerly wait for the release, the poster sets the stage for what to expect from another remarkable performance from the talented young actress.
In the newly released poster, Brown captures attention with a determined look, as she wields a sword and stands tall against a fire breathing dragon. The movie is a gripping tale as it follows a princess who, in a bid to save her kingdom, agrees to marry. However, her husband and his family have sinister motives, who are planning to sacrifice her to settle a debt. Trapped in a cave guarded by a menacing dragon, Elodie must rely on her actions to escape the dangerous situation. The poster reads, “This is not a fairytale.” Further, sharing the poster, Brown in the caption wrote, “Entering the warrior era. Damsel coming to Netflix March 8.”

Damsel, written by Dan Mazeau and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, is not a typical fairytale story. In this film, the damsel takes control of her destiny. The trailer, released by Netflix in November, offers a glimpse into Millie Bobby Brown’s character going through a risky journey, demonstrating her strength and courage while confronting monsters. The movie offers a unique story where the female lead becomes her own saviour.
Earlier, praising Brown’s performance in the movie, director Fresnadillo, speaking with Total Film, said, “She was exceptional. She understood that this needed to be an extreme survival experience. And in order to make that believable, you have to convey suffering and pain. This is a movie about a transformation, about a girl becoming a woman and you need to really feel the intensity of it. We didn’t want to cheat any of that and that’s why we pushed all the limits to make this a huge roller coaster of an experience for the audience.”
Apart from Millie Bobby Brown, Damsel also features, Nick Robinson, Ray Winstone, Brooke Carter, Ricky Guillart, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Shoreh Aghdashloo, Sam Sharma, Sonya Nisa, Erickson Santos Gomes, Elmano Sancho and Saif Mohsen.
