Matty Healy Was 'Worried' About Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department Songs About Him: Report
Taylor Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department had several tracks, apparently reflecting on Matty Healy.

Ever since Taylor Swift announced her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, this year, fans were left speculating that the record could have references to her ex-Joe Alwyn and also her new romance with Travis Kelce. Little did they know that the album had songs seemingly dedicated to another of her ex-boyfriends, Matty Healy. For the unversed, Swift and Healy dated for a brief period in 2023 after the former’s breakup with Alwyn. While the relationship was short-lived, it was impactful enough for the singer to seemingly pen a track on it.

Fans took to social media platforms to point out the many parallels that they noticed in the visuals of Fortnight, connecting them to Healy. From tracks like Guilty as Sin, I Can Fix Him and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived to the video being shot in black-and-white—a common choice that The 1975 frontman mostly opted for his music videos—to the use of long black coats with pants and loafers, which seemed similar to what Matty’s band wears for Part of the Band, fans had a lot of apparent nods to the 34-year-old’s former.

In the wake of the surprising connections, Matty Healy seems to have breathed a “sigh of relief” after the release of The Tortured Poets Department.

Matty Healy Reacts To Taylor Swift’s Latest Album

According to a US Weekly report, The 1975 singer “couldn’t be happier” with how the record turned out. “Matty still thinks very highly of Taylor, but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album,” the report states, quoting a close source.

It further added that Healy’s family was also very thrilled with the way Taylor sang about him in her highly-anticipated studio album, explaining that they knew about the relationship but were worried that “Taylor was going to rip him apart.”

The source also opened up about Healy’s reaction, stating that he was “really appreciative” after receiving a heads-up from Taylor’s team. “He was worried that their story would be shed in a negative light. He had concerns that the public wouldn’t get the full story,” it added.

Going back to their relationship timeline, Swift and Healy met in 2014 during one of his concerts. After connecting professionally in 2022, they reportedly started dating each other during the summer of 2023, briefly after Taylor parted ways with ex-Joe Alwyn. They were also spotted going on public dates.

It was nearly after a month that outlets reported that the two had broken up, stating that “they were not compatible with each other.”
