We are now one step closer to the much-awaited Freakier Friday sequel, a sequel to the beloved 2003 Disney movie Freaky Friday. Starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, the second instalment will see the actors reprising their roles as Anna and Tess, more than two decades after they switched bodies in the 2003 film. As the film nears its release in 2025, Lindsay Lohan couldn’t help but get emotional in the final days of production. On Monday, the actress shared a heartwarming post on Instagram, marking her last Monday on the sets of Freakier Friday.
“Happy Monday! It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday, and my heart is so full. It’s been such a great time making this film. The wonderful cast, crew, and everyone from Disney Studios have invested so much time and love into making this movie! Thank you to all of you!” she wrote.
Lohan also went on to express gratitude to the entire cast, crew, and her team at Disney Studios, further stating that she feels grateful to have been part of this film that tells the “story of family, mothers, and their children, and a film filled with love, laughter, and a ton of heart.”
The actress gave a special mention to Jamie Lee Curtis, her on-screen mother, and added, “It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend Jamie Lee Curtis, who brings so much joy to our set everyday and she has made this all the more special!”
The post came days after Curtis also confirmed her last Friday on the film’s sets. Getting emotional in an Instagram post, she wrote, “The last FRIDAY of this FREAKIEST FRIDAY or shall I call it CRYDAY. We still have a couple days left next week, but it’s winding down and this morning as I arrived at work and looked at the hundreds of people gathering together to make it for the fans, shooting the movie in California, I’m feeling especially grateful to my ULTIMATE movie daughter, Lindsay Lohan without whom we could not have made this movie. Ever. She gifted me a @suziekondi shirt after I complimented her on hers and I wore it today in honor of her. Off to wig and work. Thanks for all the LOVE! It was LEGENDARY!”
Coming back to the sequel, it now shows Anna with a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they struggle to navigate the challenges, the mother-daughter duo learns that they might have to switch bodies once again. Freakier Friday is scheduled to hit theatres in 2025.
