Following his successful stint in the 2023 Netflix hit Queen of Tears, South Korean star Kim Soo Hyun is ready to return to the screen with another exciting project. On Monday, August 26, Disney Plus Hotstar announced the broadcast plan and confirmed the casting of Kim Soo Hyun opposite Cho Boah in the lead role for Knock Off. Directed by Park Hyun Sun, the show will be a crime drama set against the backdrop of the Asian Financial Crisis, exploring the shady world of counterfeit goods, states a Soompi report.
The announcement has already started making headlines as one of the highly anticipated K-dramas. While fans are eagerly waiting for the K-drama powerhouse to return, it is scheduled to premiere in 2025. Knock Off is written by Han Jung Hoon, known for penning the script for Song of the Bandits, Bad Guys and 38 Squad.

The exact release date is yet to be revealed. The QOT star recently spoke about his upcoming drama at the Newsis Hallyu Expo. “Right now, I’m filming a new drama called Knock Off. It has a different vibe from Queen of Tears, and I will meet many fans again with this new project. Please look forward to it. Thank you,” he said.

More About Knock Off’s Plot
The Disney Plus crime drama will have Kim Soo Hyun taking on the role of Kim Sung Joon, the king of the counterfeit world. After losing his job during the IMF crisis in Korea, Joon steps into the world of counterfeits and emerges as the leading figure in the Saemmool Market. Jo Bo Ah will play his ex-girlfriend, Song Hye Jung, a special judicial police officer who has taken charge of cracking down on counterfeit goods.
Set for a fresh pairing, the duo are expected to form a tense relationship as they clash over counterfeit activities. “Knock Off is a story about a man whose life is completely turned upside down by the 1997 Asian financial crisis (also known in Korea as the IMF crisis), transforming from an ordinary office worker to the king of the global counterfeit market,” the plotline follows.
