Kartik Aaryan is gearing up for his return to cinemas with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, coming months after the disappointing box office performance of Chandu Champion. The actor had devoted nearly two years to Chandu Champion, undergoing intense physical training for the role. Reflecting on the experience, Kartik shared how transitioning to other projects afterward posed unexpected challenges. He mentioned that his time on Chandu Champion had resulted in a more subtle approach to acting, which caught Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 director Anees Bazmee off guard. “Wake up, Kartik,” Bazmee urged him after witnessing the actor’s first shot for the film.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Kartik recounted, “After Chandu Champion, I went on the sets of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. I was doing everything in extreme subtle way. My voice was calm. When Anees Bazmee took the first shot, he was shocked. He was like, ‘Kartik, wake up, this is a different world.’ It took me a few days to get back into Bhool Bhulaiyaa zone. I was engrossed in Chandu Champion.”
Discussing the much-anticipated horror-comedy, Kartik hinted at a bigger and scarier experience this time around. “This time we have a bigger budget. This was a huge difference,” he revealed. He also recalled the difficulties faced during the making of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which had a smaller budget and the skepticism of viewers who questioned the need for a sequel. “Last time, it was a task to shoot. The audience wasn’t even sure why we were making the sequel, and they felt this is not going to work. However, I am glad, Bhushan sir and Anees Bazmee believed in the project and made it somehow,” Kartik said.
With the third installment, Kartik is optimistic about seeing a positive return on the investment. He believes that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 delivers more horror than its predecessor, though much of it remains unrevealed in the teasers and trailers. “I believe the third part has more horror than the second, which we are unable to reveal in teasers and trailer, but you will see it all in the film,” he added.
Kartik also spoke about the overwhelming response to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and how its success has set high expectations for the next film. “I am excited for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The kind of reaction the film’s teaser has received, it has given us all a great validation. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will shock a lot of people. It has that value in it. You will go with some kind of expectations, which I hope we meet. There will be a lot of unexpected things in the film. You will have fun. A lot of characters will be reprising roles. It’s same and different at the same time. It’s much bigger,” he said.
The upcoming film features an ensemble cast, including Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Ashwini Kalsekar, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, and Vijay Raaz. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set to hit theaters on November 1, coinciding with the release of Rohit Shetty’s star-studded Singham Again, which boasts a lineup of Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff.
