Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh, who plays the protagonist in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Bajirao Mastani’, says he is nervous about how people would react to his portrayal of Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao.
‘Bajirao Mastani’ will be clashing with Shah Rukh Khan's much awaited film ‘Dilwale’ and the 30-year-old actor is nervous about the acceptance of his character and film. "There is nervousness that how people will react on seeing 'Bajirao'. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working on this film for 12-15 years. Lot of hard work, blood, sweat has gone into it. We all have collectively worked on this film, so nervousness is about how people would react," Ranveer told reporters here.
"We are trying to give people something memorable ... Something that people would cherish. We are nervous about how people will react to the film," he said.
Ranveer plays Peshwa (Prime Minister) Bajirao of the Maratha Empire. He was talking at the poster launch of his upcoming film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ last evening.
‘Bajirao Mastani’ narrates the story of Bajirao and his second wife Mastani played by Deepika Padukone while Priyanka Chopra plays Bajirao's first wife Kashibai.
To a query, the ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ actor chose not to comment on Ghulam Ali not performing in India. "For quite sometime I have been staying under a rock. I am far removed from everything else that is happening. I have my single focus to play Bajirao with all my ability because it's one in a life time opportunity and I had to do justice," he said.
"Everything in my life has taken a backseat I am not even in touch with any of my friends... Not got enough time to spend with my family but all of them are very understanding.
"I have not been upbeat about the current affairs unfortunately. Now I will get time between 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Befikre' so will catch up," he added. The historical romance film is set to release on December 18.
