‘Day After I Gave Birth To Daisy Dove Bloom’: Katy Perry Shares Delivery Room Video
Katy Perry recently shared a heartwarming throwback video capturing her in the hospital following the birth of her daughter, Daisy Dave Bloom.

Singer Katy Perry recently took to Instagram to reminisce about a very special day in her life. On August 29, the pop star shared a heartwarming throwback video capturing her in the hospital following the birth of her daughter, Daisy Dave Bloom, who is now 4. In the clip, visibly tired but joyous Perry is asked, “What day is it?" With a bite of food, she says, “It’s the day after I gave birth to Daisy Dove Bloom and it’s the day my 5th record comes out."

Perry welcomed daughter Daisy, with fiance Orlando Bloom on August 26, 2020, just two days before Perry’s album release.

Before sharing the nostalgic video, Perry celebrated the anniversary of her album Smile on Instagram Stories. On August 29, she wrote in capital letters, “Happy 4th birthday to my album smile." Accompanied by a snapshot of the album cover, she posed a question, “Where were you when this album came out, I’ll show you where I was…," with a crying-laughing emoji.

Following this, she posted a touching throwback video of herself in the delivery room, just a day after giving birth to her daughter Daisy.

Smile marked Perry’s first album since Witness in 2017, which despite debuting as No. 1 on the Billboard 200, did not match the commercial success of her earlier work. The release of the Smile album began with the 2019 hit Never Really Over, followed by a series of singles like Harleys in Hawaii, Small Talk and Never Worn White, through which she announced her pregnancy.

Perry is now set to release her sixth album, 143, this September, having led with the singles, Woman’s World and Lifetimes in the past few weeks. In an interview with The One Show, Perry has discussed how Lifetime is inspired by Daisy, hoping her daughter will find her in every lifetime.

“’Lifetimes’ is a song that I wrote inspired by my daughter; obviously I tell her ‘I love you’ before she goes to bed every night, but I’ve started telling her, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says, ‘Yes,’" Perry explained.

Prior to the release of lead single Woman’s World in July, Perry shared the snippet of the follow-up tracks – Gorgeous and Lifetimes – with DJ Zane Lowe on Apple Music. She also discussed the song’s inspiration, which was her daughter Daisy and playfully teased Bloom for not choosing him instead.

“Daisy’s gonna find me in every life. Daisy’s going to find me in every single life…or I’m going to find her, it’s kinda like that Black Mirror episode," Perry told Lowe.
