2020 was visibly and naturally a tough year for Indian entertainment industry. The artists had to spontaneously change plans regarding their projects and at times, delay them too. However, 2021 has started on a good note. A wave of excitement washed the tinsel town as the artists got bestowed upon by Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021 awards! This year, various works from spaces of films, OTT platforms, TV and literature were celebrated in the presence of celebrities on Saturday. Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani and Sushmita Sen were amongst the winners.
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was posthumously awarded with ‘Critics Best Actor’ for his performance in Dil Bechara. Speaking of Deepika and Akshay, the stars cliched the ‘Best Actor’ trophies for their films Chhapaakand Laxmiirespectively. On the other hand, Kiara took home the trophy of ‘critics choice best actor’ for Netflix film, Guilty. The ‘Performer Of The Year’ award was given to Nora Fatehi who has given some sizzling dance numbers like Garmi, Saki Saki,Naach Meri Ranito name a few.

The honour of ‘Outstanding Contribution to Literature in Indian Cinema’ was awarded to Chetan Bhagat. On the other hand, Ajay Devgn- Kajol-Saif Ali Khan starrer historical drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warriorreceived the honour of ‘Best Film’ here. The ‘Best Director’ for the night was Anurag Basu for his much-liked flick Ludo. Radhika Madan left her impression as the ‘Best Supporting Role’ in the film Angrezi Mediumalso starring the late Irrfan Khan. The ‘Outstanding Contribution To Film Industry’ award was given to Dharmendra.

Coming to the Television section, Surbhi Chandna was declared as the ‘Best Actor (female)’ for the night. Meanwhile, Dheeraj Dhoopar took the trophy of ‘Best Actor (Male). The ‘Best TV show’ was given to the daily soap, Kundali Bhagya. On the OTT front, the ‘Best Series’ award was given to Pratik Gandhi starrer Scam 1992. While Sushmita won the ‘Best Actor (Female) for her performance in series Arya, Bobby Deol won ‘Best Actor (Male) for Prakash Jha directed series Ashram. These were some of the twinkling winners for the big night.
