The dancer and former Bigg Boss contestant Sapna Choudhary has been issued a non-bailable warrant for her non-appearance in court, related to a cheating case. According to reports, a joint complaint was filed against Sapna Choudhary with the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing. In this, she was accused of cheating. After investigating the case, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) filed an FIR against Sapna Choudhary, followed by a charge sheet. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Tis Hazari Court, Rashmi Gupta has issued a non-bailable warrant in the high-profile fraud case registered against Sapna Choudhary. After this, she was once again trapped in legal troubles. “A last day of hearing exemption was sought on behalf of the accused. Even today, the accused has failed to appear before the court despite calls made to her,” said an official.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for October 25, 2024. The court has ordered, “Let NBW be issued against the accused returnable for the next day of hearing”. Advocate Randhir Lal Sharma and complainant Pawan Chawla attended the hearing through video conference.
Sapna Chaudhary is allegedly accused of taking money under various pretexts for business activities and subsequently misappropriating the funds for personal use along with a family member. On May 28, 2024, the court took cognizance of the offences under IPC Section 420 (Cheating) and Section 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust).
This is not the first time that a fraud case has been filed against this Haryanvi dancer. In 2018, a fraud case was filed against her in Lucknow. An FIR was registered against Sapna Choudhary in Lucknow’s Ashiana police station. Sapna Choudhary was accused of not performing at a program despite taking money. The audience created a lot of ruckus when Sapna Choudhary did not come to the program.
After the complaint was filed in the case, Sapna Choudhary surrendered on May 10, 2022. Due to this, the Lucknow court issued an arrest warrant against Bigg Boss fame and Haryanvi dancer Sapna Choudhary. The complaint also named programme organisers Junaid Ahmad, Naveen Sharma, Ibad Ali, Amit Pandey and Ratnakar Upadhyay. The organisers of the programme sold the tickets online and offline at Rs 300.
