Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, became the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. After being released on August 15, the film went on to break many records. After minting 597.66 crore at the Indian box office, the film broke the box office record of Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 blockbusters Jawan and Pathaan. Shraddha recently reacted to her film’s comparisons with the two mega blockbusters, during an interview.
When asked about her thoughts on Stree 2 beating Jawan and Pathaan at the box office, Shraddha told NDTV, “I have an absolutely fantastic leading man in our Indian film industry, Shah Rukh Khan, who I’ve grown up being a fan of. But to be very, very honest, I am thrilled and overjoyed to be a part of a film that has received so much love.”
Asked whether she met SRK after Stree 2 surpassed the records of his film, Shraddha said it wasn’t a competition, adding her film’s performance was a win for the entire industry. She said, “I know you’re saying this again and again that our film has beaten this film or that film. But very honestly, the way I see it, any Hindi film doing well is great for the industry. It’s exciting to have a film that does well, but it’s even more exciting when the entire industry thrives and collectively a lot more films succeed.”
Shraddha also talked about the love she received for Aashiqui 2 and the Stree franchise during the same interview. When asked about the possibility of Aashiqui 3, she said she didn’t know if it was in the works. Nevertheless, if it offered her a chance to do something unique as an actor, she would go for it.
Apart from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, Stree 2 featured a talented cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles. This sequel is part of Maddock Films’ expanding supernatural universe, which comprises Bhediya and Munjya as well.
