Kapadia arrived on the stage of the awards ceremony at the Film Festival on May 25 to accept the Grand Prix for her film All We Imagine as Light. The lead stars of her film Kani Kusruti, Chhaya Kadam and Divya Prabha also accompanied her to the stage. She began her speech with, “Wow, thank you so much for this.”

Further, addressing the jury, she mentioned, “It was already a dream to be selected in competition, and this was beyond my imagination, so thank you. Because I’m a huge fan of Miguel Gomes, I follow what he does and also invite my actors here on stage. Because without them, I don’t think this film would’ve been possible.” In her speech, she also thanked the three protagonists for their immense contribution to the film and credited them for a wonderful project.

It needs to be mentioned that Payal Kapadia’s film received an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes 2024. Celebrities including Kamal Haasan, Mammootty and Mohanlal stepped forward to cheer for the director and her remarkable achievement. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Payal Kapadia for bringing the Grand Prix to the nation after a gap of 30 years.
