The teaser of Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi has been receiving roaring response from all quarters. Bollywood superstars including Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar also gave shout-out to the actress for her terrific transformation and acting brilliance in the teaser. The teaser released on the occasion of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday on Wednesday.
Alia Bhatt also joined Bhansali at his residence to take part in his birthday celebrations. During a photo session, Alia greeted the paparazzi in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ style as she did a Namaste and smiled. The actress also posed with her film’s director Bhansali, who has directed blockbusters including Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.

The character Alia Bhatt portrays in Gangubai Kathiawadi was a sex worker in Mumbai’s Kamathipura, who was pushed into prostitution at an early age. She became synonymous with power and strength for her inspiring journey as the head of a brothel and a political leader of Kamathipura.
Karan Johar, who launched Alia Bhatt in Bollywood with Student of the Year, couldn’t contain his excitement as he tweeted: “With Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali working together, it’s bound to be magical…. What a brilliant teaser! Super super proud of you baby girl! Can’t wait to see this on the big screen!”
Gangubai Kathiawadi marks Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is set to release on July 30 this year. The film will lock horns with Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam.
