Parvathamma Rajkumar was a well-known film producer who dominated the Indian film industry. She was known for her quick decision-making capability, which helped her to taste success in her early days. She was loved by audiences and is still remembered as one of the finest producers to work with in the Kannada film industry. Tomorrow, May 31, marks her seventh death anniversary. Ahead of this day, let’s take a look at some unknown facts about her. Parvathamma Rajkumar was a book lover and was fond of novels. She always had the knack of turning novels into films. She used to discuss her ideas with her family members, before making any decision regarding any films. This attitude of her’s led to many successful films which garnered huge audience attraction.

The story behind the making of her 2003 film Chigurida Kanasu is interesting. Parvathamma had a strong desire to make the film Chigurida Kanasu with her cousin, superstar Dr Rajkumar. The book’s author Shivaram Karanth did not agree to her proposal. This dream of Parvathamma Rajkumar remained unfulfilled. Later, she prepared a script for the same storyline; but this time with Shiva Rajkumar in the leading role. Even then, the writer of the book, Shivaram Karanth rejected Parvathamma’s proposal. After the death of the writer, the legendary producer acquired the rights and started the shooting. The film was released in 2003.

Parvathamma Rajkumar’s contribution to the world of Indian films is still remembered. With her unique ability to turn stories into interesting films, she has produced over 80 films. Her films have created a legacy that is cherished by the audience till date. She was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award by the Government of India. The legendary producer was also awarded with Kannada Rajyotsava and a lifetime achievement award from the Government of Karnataka. On May 31, 2017, Parvathamma Rajkumar breathed for the last time.
