Akshara Haasan hails from a star background and her family (parents Kamal Haasan, Sarika Thakur and sister Shruti Haasan) have performed brilliantly in acting. Akshara also followed in their footsteps and tried her luck at acting in films. However, despite making a debut with a film like Shamitabh opposite stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush, Akshara failed to cement her career in acting. She acted in many films after Shamitabh such as Vivegam and Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana but they failed to give the much-needed boost to her career.

She last acted in the film Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu which received mixed reviews from the public. This film was appreciated by the audience for trying to explore the female gaze. However, despite a unique concept, Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu failed at the box office. Raja Ramamurthy wrote and directed this film. It starred an ensemble star cast of actors Usha Uthup, Anjana Jayaprakash, Suresh Chandra Menon and others in important roles. It was released at the cinemas on March 25, 2022.

How does Akshara deal with the failure of her films? She talked about it in an interview with the PTI. She said, “My father’s first seven films were flops but he continued to work hard and was persistent and see where he is today. He did movies on his terms and he has grown with every film. So seeing that it did help me understand things.” The Shamitabh actress said that both her parents advised that it happens with everyone and it is okay. She remembered them telling her to keep her goal in mind and move ahead.

Akshara Haasan will play an important role in the film Simulacra written and directed by Pankaj Sawant. This film stars Rajdeep Choudhury, Anisa Butt, Satyajeet Dubey, Bhavini Sheth and others in important roles. It is currently in the production stage and according to IMDb, is being shot in England.
