After a hiatus, South Korean actor and singer Seo Kang Joon is making a comeback to the entertainment industry. On June 10th, MBC confirmed that he will star in a new drama, which is set to be a mix of comedy and action, reports Soompi. The announcement has thrilled his fans, who have been eagerly awaiting his return. Seo Kang Joon aka Lee Seung Hwan, gained widespread fame through his roles in popular shows like Are You Human? and Cheese in the Trap. After completing his mandatory military service in May 2023, he is now ready to return to acting. His first project post-military service will be the upcoming drama titled Undercover High School, which is slated to air on MBC as a Friday-Saturday series in 2025.
In Undercover High School, Seo Kang Joon will play the role of Jung Hae Sung. He is an ace field agent who has to face a difficult situation after causing a major problem during an operation. As a result, he is demoted and given a new mission: to go undercover as a high school student. He, an agent of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), now disguises himself as a high school student. The drama is also said to be a blend of comedy and action, reports Soompi.
The story of the series becomes even more interesting when the character Jung Hae Sung navigates his new life in high school. According to the storyline, as the protagonist tries to complete his mission, he also ends up building strong bonds and emotional connections with his classmates who are not aware of his real identity. The high school in which he is working undercover also has a link to Emperor Gojong’s gold bullion. This drama will reportedly depict how Jung Hae Sung, the protagonist, balances his secret identity as an NIS agent with his life as a high school student.
The script of the upcoming Kdrama, Undercover High School, is being written by Im Young Bin. He has previously worked on Bad Prosecutor. Apart from Seo Kang Joon, Jin Ki Joo and Kim Min Ju are also reportedly in talks to star in the drama. If they join the cast, it will be interesting to see the chemistry with Seo Kang Joon.
