Wrestling back in Commonwealth Games
Of the 15 discipline already approved, wrestling will be reintroduced to the Commonwealth Games 2010.

New Delhi: The Commonwealth Games 2010 will have 18 disciplines. Out of these 15 disciplines have already been approved.

They are aquatics, athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, rugby 7’s, shooting, squash, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.

The inclusion of archery, billiards & snooker and tennis is subject to the approval of Executive Board of the Commonwealth Games Federation, which is to meet in October-November, 2006

Of the discipline already approved, wrestling will be reintroduced to the 2010 Commonwealth Games since it was not included in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The Minister of Panchayati Raj and Youth Affairs & Sports Mani Shankar Aiyar gave this information in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on Thursday.
