Workers besiege ARSS Office

BHUBANESWAR: Hundreds of workers of ARSS Infrastructure Ltd besieged its office at Mancheswar Industrial Estate on Sunday evening after a colleague of theirs was electrocuted near the Fire Station Square. The workers demanded adequate compensation from the management for the kin of P Ramesh Reddy. Since none of the senior management officials was present to listen to the agitating workers, palpable tension prevailed. Earlier, Reddy, who was working in the road project of ARSS Infrastructure Ltd, died under tragic conditions. During work, he came in contact with the 11 KV overhead supply line and was electrocuted. He was mounted on a mechanical vehicle, police said. The death triggered tension among the fellow workers who carried Reddy’s body to ARSS office in Mancheswar Industrial Estate where they demanded that the family of the deceased be paid adequate compensation since he died on duty.  Mancheswar Police reached the spot and assured the agitators that the management will be asked to meet them and hold discussions.
