New Delhi: The online world's favourite encyclopedia, Wikipedia, is all set for a face-lift. Over the next few days Wikipedia will be rolling out new changes to the website.

"When it was first developed, the software running Wikipedia was considered reasonably user-friendly. By today's standards, it is not as streamlined nor user-friendly as other software," reasons Wikimedia, the non-profit organisation behind Wikipedia. Earlier in April, Wikimedia released a new version of the software that runs the Wikipedia.

The changes include an improved navigation, a reorganised intuitive editing toolbar and a link wizard that simplifies adding internal or external links. Wikipedia has also worked on its search suggestions to help users reach the page they are looking for faster.

To get a sneak peek into Wikipedia's new look, just append "?useskin=vector" to the end of any Wikiepedia URL. For example the URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web18 would become http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web18?useskin=vector

Alternately, users can log into their Wikipedia accounts and click on the "Try Beta" link on the top right of the page.

The new changes will be implemented on the English Wikipedia on May 13. Changes in other language versions will happen later. Further improvements to the world's largest encyclopedia are expected in the near future.
