CHENNAI: The Park Hotel and Prakriti Foundation are back again with their fifth edition of The Park’s New Festival. The festival begins on September 1 with an exciting range of varied international performances across the globe. This time, Ranvir Shah — Artistic Director — has added a different flavour to the Park’s new festival by celebrating the week-long event across six different locations — New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Designed to promote fresh talent and emerging artistes, the inauguration of the festival that was held on Monday, screened a video of performances of previous years (2007 to 2010). “Though the festival starts on September 1, it will be celebrated in Chennai from September 21 to 25,” said Ranvir. The festival will have performers such as Parijat Desai Dance Company (New York), Maya Krishna Rao (New Delhi), DNOAX (a collection of performers across the country), Tagore on Vinyl — Travelling with Thakur and best of Short and Sweet festival.The cocktail evening saw a powerful dance performance by Sangeetha Ishwaran that left many in the awe of the grace with which the young scholar performed. The evening also saw guests and friends of Ranvir sipping on an array of cocktails and munching on short-eats, while waiting to witness the festival.
