BANGALORE: R Eeresh (27), a daily wage labourer with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had come to the city barely a week ago, in search of a job and a better life. But fate had other plans, as he was killed when a wall constructed on a shaky foundation, came crashing down on him.
The incident occurred in Kalyan Nagar, where the drain remodelling works were being undertaken at a cost of `80 lakh. Eeresh hailed from Navalgund in Koppal district. The workers are said to have gotten back to cleaning drains after lunch, but the wall with a shaky foundation, is said to have come crashing on him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared that the victim was brought dead.The Chandra Layout police have booked a case against the contractor Mallesh, who has been arrested. The BBMP will now decide if a compensation could be given to the victim's family. Eeresh is survived by his wife and two children.
