HYDERABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has asked district authorities to take action against rampant cow slaughter during the Bakrid festival.A delegation of VHP leaders submitted a memorandum to district collector on Friday asking him to strictly implement the law which bans slaughter of cows.“Cows are openly slaughtered in full public view in lanes and bylanes of the city during Bakrid festival,’’ they said.Bajrang Dal city president N Vinod Kumar said they have submitted a list of places where the cows are being sold openly for slaughter and demanded action to prevent cows getting killed. In another representation, the VHP asked district authorities to stop the proposed meeting of US evangelist, Fraklin Graham for violating the Foreigners Act.The VHP said Graham is coming to the city to participate in a gospel at LB stadium from November 10-13 in the guise of Hyderabad Children Festival.“The festival is a religious preaching and his participation violates the Foreigner’s Act which govern the entry and stay of foreigners,’’ the VHP said. The VHP said during the recent past, evangelists were deported by Rajahmundry police and also by police in Kerala.
