New Delhi: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher stated on Thursday that the steps taken by Pakistan so far have not eliminated the terror threat.
"Pakistan's initiatives are promising, but there is long way to go," Boucher said after meeting Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon.
"People responsible for Mumbai attacks have to be brought to justice and organisations closed down; US is determined to find out who carried out Mumbai attacks," he added.
His remarks come soon after he was decorated with Pakistan's civil award Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam as recognition of his services towards easing Pak-India tensions.
Pakistan Presidential Spokesperson, Farhatullah Baber had said on Wednesday that Boucher did good work by playing prominent role in improving Pak-India ties.
According to Baber, amid controversy relating to the Mumbai mayhem, Boucher had issued a statement that Pakistan was cooperating and had acted in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
