THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Upa Lokayukta Justice G Sasidharan has temporarily stayed a controversial decision by the Kerala University Syndicate to promote a selection-grade assistant to the post of section officer. The Syndicate on September 26 this year had decided to promote Santhosh Kumar, the selection grade assistant, allegedly without him having to produce his degree certificate, the basic qualification required. Seven members of the Syndicate had objected to the decision, but nine members, including five nominated members and two government representatives, had okayed it. Senate member Joshi John had lodged a complaint saying that Santosh Kumar, vice-president of the pro-Congress Kerala Staff Union, was promoted in violation of existing law and rules. Advocates Cherunniyoor P Sasidharan Nair, K Rajagopalan Nair and N Janardhanan Pillai appeared for Joshi John.
