UPA government seeks more time on Telangana

NEW DELHI: The Congress High Command on Saturday sought more time for a final decision on the contentious issue of Telangana statehood. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Governor ESL Narasimhan and other state Congress leaders had multiple separate meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other top cabinet ministers. It was decided to continue further consultations on Monday. Putting to rest speculations of President’s rule in AP, the Centre asserted that this would not happen.
