HYDERABAD: With day temperatures starting to rise again, unofficial power cuts have begun to take place in many localities, despite the claims of CPDCL officials that power consumption has been normal in the past few days. CPDCL officials said power supply is usually interrupted for a fixed time for repair works during the morning. However, since the past 10 days, a few hours of power cuts are taking place in some localities.Sarathchandra Seenu, chief general manager, APCPDCL said there are no official power cuts in the city. Regular power consumption is also normal of at least 18 MU per day. In the past week, consumption of power has not been more than 19 MU. “Due to monsoon, power cuts may occur in some locations due to repairs. The staff temporarily cut power supply and it is resumed immediately after finishing the works,” he added. However, residents in Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Somajiguda, Madhapur and some areas in Ameerpet, SR Nagar, and Sanathnagar are facing frequent power cuts. Due to the unscheduled power interruptions, many business establishments are setting up shared generators as a precautionary measure. “We don’t know whether the frequent interruption of power is official or not. But since the past five days, power have been taking place without any fixed schedule. Due to the power cuts, we have set up a sharing generator,” said S Ashok Yadav, a trader at Ameerpet. There have also been a number of complaints of voltage fluctuations. “With complaints increasing regularly, we will examine the situation and provide proper facilities to prevent the problem of low voltage. We have not scheduled any official power cuts in the twin cities and will look into cases of frequent power interruptions,” the chief general manager said.
