New Delhi: The family of stabbed Indian student from Hyderabad, Praveen Reddy, was granted visa to visit the UK on Sunday. Praveen Reddy, doing an MBA at the London Business School was stabbed on Friday in the London borough of Newham.
Eleven people have been arrested by the Scotland Yard in connection with the case.
The UK High Commission issued a statement on Saturday saying, "We are establishing the facts and working closely with MEA. We will do everything so that the family can go and see their son. We are taking up the matter seriously. We want to tell you that UK is a safe country."
"Police called at 08.23 on Friday, 10 February to Newham General Hospital after a man in his 20's was admitted suffering from stab wounds. He is currently in hospital in a critical condition," Scotland Yard said in a statement. Officers believe Pravin sustained his injuries at an address in Kent Street, E13.
Out of the eleven people arrested, four remain in custody. The other seven have been bailed until future dates. "Detectives from Newham Borough are investigating," it added.
External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Saturday spoke to acting Indian High Commissioner in UK and directed to extend all help to Praveen and his family.
Krishna spoke to Praveen's father and assured him all support in getting visa.
There is no suggestion yet that the stabbing incident was motivated by race hatred.
