MANDYA: Two youths from Indiranagar, Bangalore, were washed away in the Cauvery river, when they slipped and fell into the river, while taking bath at Sangam, in Srirangapatana. The deceased are Praveen Kumar (20) and Ramachandra alias Naveen Kumar (20).Praveen Kumar, along with relatives and friends had come to Srirangapatana to perform the after-death rituals in for a close relative.It is said that Praveen fell into the river after the release of 20,000 cusecs of water from Krishna Raja Sagar. Naveen Kumar who tried to save Praveen also drowned. When the family members raised an alarm, tourists jumped into the river and tried to save the youths.Meanwhile, police and fire service personnel rushed on to the spot and tried to fish out the bodies.
