THODIPUZHA: Reports of water in the Mullaperiyar dam going up by half a feet and then receding, in the aftermath of the earthquake in Indonesia, created panic among the people in the area on Wednesday.According to sources, a team of officials from the Irrigation Department was at the spot to  assess the situation and get more information.KSEB officials said that the recording of the seismogram (graph output of a seismograph) could not be taken as the seismograph was showing continuous readings since 4.17 pm.The final recording is likely to be available on Thursday morning, sources said.Idukki, housing several major dams, remained tense after tremors were felt in the neighbouring district of Ernakulam.Idukki also experienced mild tremors, collector E Devadasan said. This was due to the impact of the quake that hit Aceh province of Indonesia, he added. “Though there is no reason to panic, we have taken all needed precautions,”  the Collector said. All the tahsildars and other concerned officials have been asked to remain alert, to deal with any situation. A 24-hour information centre has been set up at the Collectorate.
