THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An in-service training programme for teachers of various Sainik Schools in the country was held at Sainik School, Kazhakkoottam from May 11 to 21. Around 125 teachers from 24 Sainik Schools across the country took part in the programme. Interactive sessions were conducted as part of the programme. Eminent personalities like T P Srinivasan, vice-chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council; R P Sharma, Academic Consultant, CBSE New Delhi; Soumi Awasthi, scientist, Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DRDO); Dr Chandraprasad Sreedhar, clinical psychologist; Arvindar J Singh, educational psychologist from NCERT; and Anju I, of Institute of Advanced Studies in Education took part. Kerala exposure educational trips to Alappuzha, Kollam and places of interest in and around Thiruvananthapuram were also organised. A Kathakali performance was also arranged for the participants to get a taste of the cultural traditions of Kerala. The programme concluded with powerpoint presentations by various departments and an exhibition by the art and craft faculty from various schools. The valedictory function of the in-service training programme was held on May 21. All participants were awarded course certificates and mementos. The in-service course was conducted on behalf of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence.
