CHENNAI: Twenty-two students, who were expelled from the Perunkaranai Panchayat Union Middle School in Kancheepuram district as they were found to be HIV positive, have been brought under the main stream and re-admitted in the school, the District Elementary Educational Officer (DEEO)  said on Tuesday.“Since the relief sought for by the petitioner has been granted, there is no need to keep the matter pending,’’ the First Bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam said and disposed of the writ petition.According to the petitioner, a member of HIV+ People’s Movement, a counselling centre, the school management expelled 22 students, who were residing in the ARIAS Home of Hope, when it came to know that they were HIVpositive.  As his efforts to re-admit them failed, he filed the present public interest writ petition. When the matter came up on Tuesday, a copy of the proceedings dated June 20 last of the District Elementary Educational Officer  was produced before the Bench.  It showed that the children affected by HIV had been brought under the main stream and readmitted to the school.  Recording the submission, the Bench disposed of the writ petition.
