TMC members protest against manhandling of Mamata Banerjee's nephew

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress members were up in arms and were protesting against party MP and Mamata Banerjee's nephew being slapped by some people during a party programme on Sunday.

The incident happened when Abhishek Banerjee, Lok Sabha member from Diamond Harbour, was attending a TMC programme in Chandipur area of East Midnapore. An unidentified person climbed up on stage on the pretext of taking a photo and then slapped him.

Reacting to the incident TMC leader Derek O'Brien said, "I don't have details, we are looking to find out details. It could be handiwork of outsider. We will find out if any outsider is involved in it."

However, locals said the attacker could be a disgruntled party worker.
