Three killed as car rams stationary lorry

CHENNAI: In a midnight road tragedy, three men were killed when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary lorry at Aminjikarai on Sunday.Malaysia-based software engineer Pratap Martin (30), whose family resides on Neelakandan Street, Choolaimedu, was killed on the spot when the Maruti Esteem in which he was proceeding from Thirumangalam towards Nungambakkam hit a lorry parked on Nelson Manickam Road in Mehta Nagar at 12.50 am. His friends Akilesh Gupta (31), a software engineer who was behind the wheel, and Natesh (28), an HR personnel and native of Kanyakumari, died on the way to hospital. Their bodies were sent to the government general hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to their parents. The Anna Traffic Investigation police are probing the case.
