VELLORE: Vimal Arumugam and her two children got back just on Monday, after spending the summer with her husband in the US. Arumugam, who herself was working in the US, had to rush to Udumalpet so that her son Pranav Raj (10) could start attending Standard V classes from next week. Her daughter, for whom the classes was to begin four days later, opted to stay at her uncle’s place in Chennai and return later. Arumugam’s mother Vijayalakshmi (55) had come to the city to accompany her daughter and grandchildren home. Relatives said Arumugam had promised her daughter that she would return soon when she, along with Pranav and Vijayalakshmi, boarded the bus. That promise, however, went up in flames as all three perished in the bus crash. After the accident, Arumugam’s sister-in-law broke down on seeing the personal belongings of Arumugam and identified the bodies.
